How to Make Your Own Hair-Pin Jewelry

When you want to accessorize your outfit but are tired of the same earrings, necklaces and bracelets, jazz up your ensemble with some jewelry designed on your hair pins. Make your own cute clips with basic crafts supplies and techniques to decorate your hair and brighten your entire look.

Things You’ll Need:

* Large bobby pins
* Fine-gauge wire
* Beads
* Hair clips
* Gems, rhinestones or buttons
* Adhesives
* Jump rings
* Old jewelry

Step 1

Design bejeweled hair clips by threading a strand of fine-gauge wire through the loop of a large bobby pin. Add a bead to the end of the wire and twist the end around the clip and back through the bead to secure it. Loop the wire around just the top half of the hair pin and add another bead so it will sit on top of the clip. Continue until the entire clip is covered.

Step 2

Add a glitzy touch to plain silver clips by using glue or adhesive dots to affix decorative accents across the top. Add sparkle with plastic gems, crystals, rhinestones or clear buttons (see Resources).

Step 3

Use jewelry parts to help design hair clips to accentuate your look. Take metal charms off of an old bracelet or the accent from wire earrings and dangle them from clips with jump rings.

Step 4

Open a silver snap clip and coat the top half with light coat of liquid glue. Press the clip into a tray of seed beads or sparkling microbeads. Allow the glue to dry completely before closing or wearing the clip to prevent sticking.
